   I have owned Douce Amere for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Artemisia with Vanilla, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Artemisia and Vanilla feel carefully balanced. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   Serge Lutens knows how to compose, and Douce Amere (2002) is proof. Give it a little time and Artemisia with Vanilla comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Artemisia with Vanilla, which is where the fragrance really shines. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
