   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Xeryus Rouge. As it settles, Sandalwood and Cedar come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Sandalwood plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   A couple of wears in, Xeryus Rouge has really grown on me. The first minutes are all about Cactus with a hint of Chinese Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. The heart is the best part for me: Pimento and African Geranium feel carefully balanced. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I picked up Xeryus Rouge (1995) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The very first sniff is crisp Cactus with Chinese Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Cactus with a hint of Chinese Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.
