   Picked up a sample of Bois des Iles after reading the community buzz (2007). The heart is the best part for me: Ylang-Ylang and Iris feel carefully balanced. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Ylang-Ylang with Iris, which is where the fragrance really shines. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I have owned Bois des Iles for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. That first spray gives a lovely Aldehydes/Coriander impression that dries down smoothly. As it settles, Sandalwood and Amber come through and give it real depth. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   A friend passed me a decant of Bois des Iles (2007) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Sandalwood plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Give it a little time and Ylang-Ylang with Iris comes forward — smooth and well done. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The opening is built around Aldehydes and Coriander — bright and immediately recognizable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
