   James Heeley knows how to compose, and Cardinal is proof. As it settles, Amber and Patchouli come through and give it real depth. The heart is the best part for me: Myrrh and Olibanum feel carefully balanced. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   I have owned Cardinal for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. As it settles, Amber and Patchouli come through and give it real depth. The heart is the best part for me: Myrrh and Olibanum feel carefully balanced. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I have owned Cardinal for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The very first sniff is crisp Linen with Black Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Myrrh with Olibanum, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

The drydown leans on Amber plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

Give it a little time and Myrrh with Olibanum comes forward — smooth and well done. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

Right away I get mostly Linen alongside Black Pepper, fresh and very easy to wear. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. The composition is well made but not for me.
