   Avon knows how to compose, and Perceive Dew (2011) is proof. The opening is built around Amalfi Lemon and Melon — bright and immediately recognizable. Right away I get mostly Amalfi Lemon alongside Melon, fresh and very easy to wear. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   A decant of Perceive Dew sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The base rests on Musk and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Right away I get mostly Amalfi Lemon alongside Melon, fresh and very easy to wear. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

The first minutes are all about Amalfi Lemon with a hint of Melon — it grabs attention without being pushy. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A friend passed me a decant of Perceive Dew (2011) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The very first sniff is crisp Amalfi Lemon with Melon peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Amalfi Lemon with a hint of Melon — it grabs attention without being pushy. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   I have owned Perceive Dew for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. As it settles, Musk and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. That first spray gives a lovely Amalfi Lemon/Melon impression that dries down smoothly. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I picked up Perceive Dew (2011) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Sea water with Honeysuckle, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Sea water and Honeysuckle feel carefully balanced. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I would happily buy a full bottle.
