   Everyone keeps talking about Aramis, so I finally gave it a proper test. As it settles, Leather and Oakmoss come through and give it real depth. Right away I get mostly Aldehydes alongside Myrrh, fresh and very easy to wear. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   A decant of Aramis sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The heart is the best part for me: Patchouli and Sage feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Aldehydes/Myrrh impression that dries down smoothly. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. The composition is well made but not for me.

   I keep reaching for Aramis more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Aldehydes with Myrrh peeking through, very much my kind of start. The opening is built around Aldehydes and Myrrh — bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A friend passed me a decant of Aramis (1966) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on Leather and Oakmoss — warm, grounded and easy to live with. That first spray gives a lovely Aldehydes/Myrrh impression that dries down smoothly. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
