   I’ve been wearing Fierce on and off for a few weeks now (2002). The heart is the best part for me: Rosemary and Lily-of-the-Valley feel carefully balanced. As it settles, Musk and Vetiver come through and give it real depth. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Fierce. The heart is the best part for me: Rosemary and Lily-of-the-Valley feel carefully balanced. As it settles, Musk and Vetiver come through and give it real depth. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   Abercrombie & Fitch knows how to compose, and Fierce (2002) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Fir/Lemon impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown leans on Musk plus Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   A decant of Fierce sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The first minutes are all about Fir with a hint of Lemon — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Fir with Lemon peeking through, very much my kind of start. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   For a 2002 release, Fierce deserves more attention than it gets. The drydown leans on Musk plus Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Fir and Lemon — bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Rosemary with Lily-of-the-Valley, which is where the fragrance really shines. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The very first sniff is crisp Fir with Lemon peeking through, very much my kind of start. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
