   I picked up Icon Elite (2016) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The opening is built around Cardamom and Bitter Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. The very first sniff is crisp Cardamom with Bitter Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. The composition is well made but not for me.

   I’ve been wearing Icon Elite on and off for a few weeks now (2016). The heart is the best part for me: Vetiver and Black Pepper feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Cardamom/Bitter Orange impression that dries down smoothly. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A friend passed me a decant of Icon Elite (2016) and I wasn’t prepared for it. That first spray gives a lovely Cardamom/Bitter Orange impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Cardamom alongside Bitter Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I keep reaching for Icon Elite more than I expected to. Right away I get mostly Cardamom alongside Bitter Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. Give it a little time and Vetiver with Black Pepper comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The drydown leans on Ebony plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

That first spray gives a lovely Cardamom/Bitter Orange impression that dries down smoothly. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   Alfred Dunhill knows how to compose, and Icon Elite (2016) is proof. Right away I get mostly Cardamom alongside Bitter Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. The base rests on Ebony and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
