   Amouage knows how to compose, and Bracken Man (2016) is proof. The very first sniff is crisp Cloves with Cypress peeking through, very much my kind of start. That first spray gives a lovely Cloves/Cypress impression that dries down smoothly. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   Amouage knows how to compose, and Bracken Man (2016) is proof. The heart is the best part for me: Geranium and Cedar feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Geranium with Cedar comes forward — smooth and well done. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The drydown leans on Patchouli plus Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   I picked up Bracken Man (2016) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Right away I get mostly Cloves alongside Cypress, fresh and very easy to wear. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Geranium with Cedar, which is where the fragrance really shines. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Bracken Man. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Geranium with Cedar, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown leans on Patchouli plus Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.
