   My first Amouage experience was this one, Dia Man (2002). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Peony with Plum, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown leans on Vetiver plus Brazilian Rosewood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I keep reaching for Dia Man more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Incense with Cardamom peeking through, very much my kind of start. The opening is built around Incense and Cardamom — bright and immediately recognizable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   A friend passed me a decant of Dia Man (2002) and I wasn’t prepared for it. That first spray gives a lovely Incense/Cardamom impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Incense alongside Cardamom, fresh and very easy to wear. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   I’ve been wearing Dia Man on and off for a few weeks now (2002). Give it a little time and Peony with Plum comes forward — smooth and well done. Right away I get mostly Incense alongside Cardamom, fresh and very easy to wear. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

That first spray gives a lovely Incense/Cardamom impression that dries down smoothly. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The heart is the best part for me: Peony and Plum feel carefully balanced. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
