My first Amouage experience was this one, Fate Man (2013). The first minutes are all about Cumin with a hint of Saffron — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Cumin with Saffron peeking through, very much my kind of start. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

I have owned Fate Man for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Right away I get mostly Cumin alongside Saffron, fresh and very easy to wear. The base rests on Licorice and Labdanum — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I would happily buy a full bottle.

Picked up a sample of Fate Man after reading the community buzz (2013). The very first sniff is crisp Cumin with Saffron peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Cumin with a hint of Saffron — it grabs attention without being pushy. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

Amouage knows how to compose, and Fate Man (2013) is proof. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Immortelle with Incense, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Cumin/Saffron impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Fate Man. Give it a little time and Immortelle with Incense comes forward — smooth and well done. The opening is built around Cumin and Saffron — bright and immediately recognizable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

Picked up a sample of Fate Man after reading the community buzz (2013). As it settles, Licorice and Labdanum come through and give it real depth. Right away I get mostly Cumin alongside Saffron, fresh and very easy to wear. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I would happily buy a full bottle.

I’ve been wearing Fate Man on and off for a few weeks now (2013). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Immortelle with Incense, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Immortelle and Incense feel carefully balanced. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

Everyone keeps talking about Fate Man, so I finally gave it a proper test. That first spray gives a lovely Cumin/Saffron impression that dries down smoothly.
