   Everyone keeps talking about Memoir Man, so I finally gave it a proper test. Right away I get mostly Wormwood alongside Mint, fresh and very easy to wear. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Incense with Lavender, which is where the fragrance really shines. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   Picked up a sample of Memoir Man after reading the community buzz (2010). The first minutes are all about Wormwood with a hint of Mint — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Wormwood with Mint peeking through, very much my kind of start. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Memoir Man. Right away I get mostly Wormwood alongside Mint, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown leans on Tobacco plus Leather and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

The drydown leans on Tobacco plus Leather and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   A friend passed me a decant of Memoir Man (2010) and I wasn’t prepared for it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Incense with Lavender, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Wormwood/Mint impression that dries down smoothly. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The heart is the best part for me: Incense and Lavender feel carefully balanced. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

Right away I get mostly Wormwood alongside Mint, fresh and very easy to wear. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
