   I have owned Sunshine Man for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The heart is the best part for me: Juniper Berries and Clary Sage feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Lavender and Brandy — bright and immediately recognizable. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I picked up Sunshine Man (2015) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Juniper Berries with Clary Sage, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Tonka Bean and Vanilla come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   A friend passed me a decant of Sunshine Man (2015) and I wasn’t prepared for it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Juniper Berries with Clary Sage, which is where the fragrance really shines. Right away I get mostly Lavender alongside Brandy, fresh and very easy to wear. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   My first Amouage experience was this one, Sunshine Man (2015). Right away I get mostly Lavender alongside Brandy, fresh and very easy to wear. The very first sniff is crisp Lavender with Brandy peeking through, very much my kind of start. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   Everyone keeps talking about Sunshine Man, so I finally gave it a proper test. That first spray gives a lovely Lavender/Brandy impression that dries down smoothly. Give it a little time and Juniper Berries with Clary Sage comes forward — smooth and well done. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

That first spray gives a lovely Lavender/Brandy impression that dries down smoothly. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
