   I keep reaching for Animale for Men more than I expected to. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lavender with Juniper Berries, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Lavender and Juniper Berries feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   Picked up a sample of Animale for Men after reading the community buzz (1993). That first spray gives a lovely Lemon/Neroli impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Lemon alongside Neroli, fresh and very easy to wear. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. The composition is well made but not for me.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lavender with Juniper Berries, which is where the fragrance really shines. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   Animale knows how to compose, and Animale for Men (1993) is proof. The very first sniff is crisp Lemon with Neroli peeking through, very much my kind of start. Right away I get mostly Lemon alongside Neroli, fresh and very easy to wear. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   A couple of wears in, Animale for Men has really grown on me. The base rests on Leather and Oakmoss — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Right away I get mostly Lemon alongside Neroli, fresh and very easy to wear. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I would happily buy a full bottle.

This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
