   Atelier Cologne knows how to compose, and Ambre Nue (2012) is proof. Give it a little time and Benzoin with Cinnamon comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Benzoin with Cinnamon, which is where the fragrance really shines. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I have owned Ambre Nue for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. That first spray gives a lovely Mandarin Orange/Marigold impression that dries down smoothly. The very first sniff is crisp Mandarin Orange with Marigold peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I picked up Ambre Nue (2012) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The first minutes are all about Mandarin Orange with a hint of Marigold — it grabs attention without being pushy. Right away I get mostly Mandarin Orange alongside Marigold, fresh and very easy to wear. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I’ve been wearing Ambre Nue on and off for a few weeks now (2012). The drydown leans on French labdanum plus Tonka Bean and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Mandarin Orange and Marigold — bright and immediately recognizable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
