   I picked up West Side (2006) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Rose with Peony, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Rose and Peony feel carefully balanced. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   A decant of West Side sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. Give it a little time and Rose with Peony comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Rose with Peony, which is where the fragrance really shines. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

Give it a little time and Rose with Peony comes forward — smooth and well done. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

I wanted to like it more than I did.
