   Everyone keeps talking about Aqva Amara, so I finally gave it a proper test. Give it a little time and Watery Notes with Neroli comes forward — smooth and well done. The drydown leans on Olibanum plus Indonesian Patchouli Leaf and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I’ve been wearing Aqva Amara on and off for a few weeks now (2014). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Watery Notes with Neroli, which is where the fragrance really shines. The first minutes are all about Sicilian Mandarin — it grabs attention without being pushy. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   I picked up Aqva Amara (2014) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. As it settles, Olibanum and Indonesian Patchouli Leaf come through and give it real depth. Right away I get mostly Sicilian Mandarin, fresh and very easy to wear. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   Bvlgari knows how to compose, and Aqva Amara (2014) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Sicilian Mandarin impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Sicilian Mandarin, fresh and very easy to wear. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

The base rests on Olibanum and Indonesian Patchouli Leaf — warm, grounded and easy to live with. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The opening is built around Sicilian Mandarin — bright and immediately recognizable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Aqva Amara. The very first sniff is crisp Sicilian Mandarin, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Watery Notes with Neroli, which is where the fragrance really shines. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.
