   A decant of Playing With The Devil sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Black Currant with White Peach peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Pimento with Pepper, which is where the fragrance really shines. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   Everyone keeps talking about Playing With The Devil, so I finally gave it a proper test. The base rests on Vanila and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The very first sniff is crisp Black Currant with White Peach peeking through, very much my kind of start. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   My first By Kilian experience was this one, Playing With The Devil (2013). As it settles, Vanila and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. The base rests on Vanila and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. The composition is well made but not for me.

   My first By Kilian experience was this one, Playing With The Devil (2013). The base rests on Vanila and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The opening is built around Black Currant and White Peach — bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

Right away I get mostly Black Currant alongside White Peach, fresh and very easy to wear. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Playing With The Devil. That first spray gives a lovely Black Currant/White Peach impression that dries down smoothly. As it settles, Vanila and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
