   Byredo knows how to compose, and Young Rose (2021) is proof. The drydown leans on Musk plus Ambroxan and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The first minutes are all about Sichuan Pepper with a hint of Ambrette (Musk Mallow) — it grabs attention without being pushy. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   For a 2021 release, Young Rose deserves more attention than it gets. The opening is built around Sichuan Pepper and Ambrette (Musk Mallow) — bright and immediately recognizable. Right away I get mostly Sichuan Pepper alongside Ambrette (Musk Mallow), fresh and very easy to wear. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

Give it a little time and Damask Rose with Iris comes forward — smooth and well done. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. The composition is well made but not for me.

The very first sniff is crisp Sichuan Pepper with Ambrette (Musk Mallow) peeking through, very much my kind of start. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. The composition is well made but not for me.

   A couple of wears in, Young Rose has really grown on me. As it settles, Musk and Ambroxan come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Damask Rose with Iris, which is where the fragrance really shines. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.
