   For a 2005 release, Promesse deserves more attention than it gets. The drydown leans on Musk plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. As it settles, Musk and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   My first Cacharel experience was this one, Promesse (2005). The opening is built around Blackberry and Mandarin Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. Right away I get mostly Blackberry alongside Mandarin Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

As it settles, Musk and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I keep reaching for Promesse more than I expected to. The first minutes are all about Blackberry with a hint of Mandarin Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Orchid with Jasmine, which is where the fragrance really shines. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

Give it a little time and Orchid with Jasmine comes forward — smooth and well done. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
