   My first Calvin Klein experience was this one, Encounter (2012). That first spray gives a lovely Rum/Cardamom impression that dries down smoothly. The base rests on Agarwood (Oud) and Cedar — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I keep reaching for Encounter more than I expected to. As it settles, Agarwood (Oud) and Cedar come through and give it real depth. The heart is the best part for me: Cognac and Pepper feel carefully balanced. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I’ve been wearing Encounter on and off for a few weeks now (2012). The first minutes are all about Rum with a hint of Cardamom — it grabs attention without being pushy. The heart is the best part for me: Cognac and Pepper feel carefully balanced. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   Picked up a sample of Encounter after reading the community buzz (2012). Give it a little time and Cognac with Pepper comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cognac with Pepper, which is where the fragrance really shines. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

The very first sniff is crisp Rum with Cardamom peeking through, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.
