   A friend passed me a decant of Escape for Men (1993) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The very first sniff is crisp Melon with Eucalyptus peeking through, very much my kind of start. The opening is built around Melon and Eucalyptus — bright and immediately recognizable. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I keep reaching for Escape for Men more than I expected to. Give it a little time and Sea Notes with Fir comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Sea Notes with Fir, which is where the fragrance really shines. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   A decant of Escape for Men sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. That first spray gives a lovely Melon/Eucalyptus impression that dries down smoothly. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

The very first sniff is crisp Melon with Eucalyptus peeking through, very much my kind of start. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
