   Picked up a sample of Yatagan after reading the community buzz (1978). That first spray gives a lovely Pine/Galbanum impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Pine alongside Galbanum, fresh and very easy to wear. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   I’ve been wearing Yatagan on and off for a few weeks now (1978). That first spray gives a lovely Pine/Galbanum impression that dries down smoothly. Give it a little time and Artemisia with oak moss comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The first minutes are all about Pine with a hint of Galbanum — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   My first Caron experience was this one, Yatagan (1978). Right away I get mostly Pine alongside Galbanum, fresh and very easy to wear. The heart is the best part for me: Artemisia and oak moss feel carefully balanced. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   A friend passed me a decant of Yatagan (1978) and I wasn’t prepared for it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Artemisia with oak moss, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Artemisia and oak moss feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   I keep reaching for Yatagan more than I expected to. Right away I get mostly Pine alongside Galbanum, fresh and very easy to wear. The opening is built around Pine and Galbanum — bright and immediately recognizable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I would happily buy a full bottle.

It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   Caron knows how to compose, and Yatagan (1978) is proof. As it settles, Castoreum and Woodsy Notes come through and give it real depth. The very first sniff is crisp Pine with Galbanum peeking through, very much my kind of start. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Artemisia with oak moss, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The drydown leans on Castoreum plus Woodsy Notes and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
