   Everyone keeps talking about Velvet, so I finally gave it a proper test. The heart is the best part for me: Rose Petals and Vanilla Flower feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Cloves/Almond impression that dries down smoothly. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I have owned Velvet for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Give it a little time and Rose Petals with Vanilla Flower comes forward — smooth and well done. The very first sniff is crisp Cloves with Almond peeking through, very much my kind of start. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. The composition is well made but not for me.

   For a 2018 release, Velvet deserves more attention than it gets. Right away I get mostly Cloves alongside Almond, fresh and very easy to wear. That first spray gives a lovely Cloves/Almond impression that dries down smoothly. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

The drydown leans on White Woods plus Black Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
