   A friend passed me a decant of Vanille Banane (2003) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus White Rum and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The very first sniff is crisp Banana with Whipped Cream peeking through, very much my kind of start. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   Comptoir Sud Pacifique knows how to compose, and Vanille Banane (2003) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Banana/Whipped Cream impression that dries down smoothly. Give it a little time and Banana Leaf with Clover comes forward — smooth and well done. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A decant of Vanille Banane sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. As it settles, Vanilla and White Rum come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Banana Leaf with Clover, which is where the fragrance really shines. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
