   A friend passed me a decant of Sand & Sable (1981) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Give it a little time and Gardenia with Tuberose comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Gardenia with Tuberose, which is where the fragrance really shines. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   Everyone keeps talking about Sand & Sable, so I finally gave it a proper test. The heart is the best part for me: Gardenia and Tuberose feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Gardenia with Tuberose comes forward — smooth and well done. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A couple of wears in, Sand & Sable has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Gardenia with Tuberose, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Gardenia and Tuberose feel carefully balanced. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
