   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Aventus Cologne. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Vetiver with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Musk and Birch come through and give it real depth. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   Creed knows how to compose, and Aventus Cologne (2018) is proof. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Vetiver with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. Give it a little time and Vetiver with Patchouli comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

As it settles, Musk and Birch come through and give it real depth. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I’ve been wearing Aventus Cologne on and off for a few weeks now (2018). The opening is built around Mandarin Orange and Ginger — bright and immediately recognizable. The drydown leans on Musk plus Birch and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. The composition is well made but not for me.

A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I picked up Aventus Cologne (2018) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Right away I get mostly Mandarin Orange alongside Ginger, fresh and very easy to wear. The base rests on Musk and Birch — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.
