   Everyone keeps talking about Joy by Dior, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Jasmine with Grasse rose, which is where the fragrance really shines. Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Mandarin Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A friend passed me a decant of Joy by Dior (2018) and I wasn’t prepared for it. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot/Mandarin Orange impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Mandarin Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Mandarin Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   I’ve been wearing Joy by Dior on and off for a few weeks now (2018). The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Mandarin Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Jasmine with Grasse rose, which is where the fragrance really shines. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I would happily buy a full bottle.

The opening is built around Bergamot and Mandarin Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day.
