   I have owned Private Collection for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The heart is the best part for me: Chrysanthemum and Narcissus feel carefully balanced. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Chrysanthemum with Narcissus, which is where the fragrance really shines. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   I picked up Private Collection (1973) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The base rests on Oakmoss and Coriander — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Give it a little time and Chrysanthemum with Narcissus comes forward — smooth and well done. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I keep reaching for Private Collection more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Green Notes with Hiacynth peeking through, very much my kind of start. That first spray gives a lovely Green Notes/Hiacynth impression that dries down smoothly. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   A couple of wears in, Private Collection has really grown on me. As it settles, Oakmoss and Coriander come through and give it real depth. The base rests on Oakmoss and Coriander — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   Everyone keeps talking about Private Collection, so I finally gave it a proper test. The heart is the best part for me: Chrysanthemum and Narcissus feel carefully balanced. Right away I get mostly Green Notes alongside Hiacynth, fresh and very easy to wear. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

As it settles, Oakmoss and Coriander come through and give it real depth. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.
