   A friend passed me a decant of Essence Oud (2012) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on Leather and Labdanum — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The opening is built around Agarwood (Oud) — bright and immediately recognizable. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   Everyone keeps talking about Essence Oud, so I finally gave it a proper test. As it settles, Leather and Labdanum come through and give it real depth. The first minutes are all about Agarwood (Oud) — it grabs attention without being pushy. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I have owned Essence Oud for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The opening is built around Agarwood (Oud) — bright and immediately recognizable. Right away I get mostly Agarwood (Oud), fresh and very easy to wear. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.
