   My first Geoffrey Beene experience was this one, Grey Flannel (1975). The base rests on Oakmoss and Vetiver — warm, grounded and easy to live with. That first spray gives a lovely Galbanum/Petitgrain impression that dries down smoothly. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I picked up Grey Flannel (1975) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The opening is built around Galbanum and Petitgrain — bright and immediately recognizable. Give it a little time and Violet with Iris comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

As it settles, Oakmoss and Vetiver come through and give it real depth. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

As it settles, Oakmoss and Vetiver come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

The very first sniff is crisp Galbanum with Petitgrain peeking through, very much my kind of start. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Iris feel carefully balanced. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. The composition is well made but not for me.
