   A couple of wears in, Deep Night has really grown on me. Right away I get mostly Night blooming Cereus alongside Rose, fresh and very easy to wear. The opening is built around Night blooming Cereus and Rose — bright and immediately recognizable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A friend passed me a decant of Deep Night (2001) and I wasn’t prepared for it. That first spray gives a lovely Night blooming Cereus/Rose impression that dries down smoothly. The heart is the best part for me: Woodsy Notes and Peach feel carefully balanced. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

As it settles, Vanilla and Musk come through and give it real depth. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   For a 2001 release, Deep Night deserves more attention than it gets. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The very first sniff is crisp Night blooming Cereus with Rose peeking through, very much my kind of start. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
