   My first Givenchy experience was this one, Dahlia Noir (2011). The opening is built around Pink Pepper and Mimosa — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Pink Pepper/Mimosa impression that dries down smoothly. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   For a 2011 release, Dahlia Noir deserves more attention than it gets. The first minutes are all about Pink Pepper with a hint of Mimosa — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Pink Pepper with Mimosa peeking through, very much my kind of start. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   Everyone keeps talking about Dahlia Noir, so I finally gave it a proper test. That first spray gives a lovely Pink Pepper/Mimosa impression that dries down smoothly. The heart is the best part for me: Iris and Rose feel carefully balanced. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A decant of Dahlia Noir sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Iris with Rose, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Sandalwood and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I keep reaching for Dahlia Noir more than I expected to. The drydown leans on Sandalwood plus Tonka Bean and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. As it settles, Sandalwood and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A friend passed me a decant of Dahlia Noir (2011) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The opening is built around Pink Pepper and Mimosa — bright and immediately recognizable. The very first sniff is crisp Pink Pepper with Mimosa peeking through, very much my kind of start. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.
