   I have owned Givenchy Play Eau de Toilette for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Right away I get mostly Bitter Orange alongside Grapefruit, fresh and very easy to wear. The opening is built around Bitter Orange and Grapefruit — bright and immediately recognizable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. The composition is well made but not for me.

Give it a little time and Coffee with Pepper comes forward — smooth and well done. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

As it settles, Vetyver and Patchouli come through and give it real depth. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   For a 2008 release, Givenchy Play Eau de Toilette deserves more attention than it gets. The drydown leans on Vetyver plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Coffee with Pepper, which is where the fragrance really shines. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A couple of wears in, Givenchy Play Eau de Toilette has really grown on me. That first spray gives a lovely Bitter Orange/Grapefruit impression that dries down smoothly. The first minutes are all about Bitter Orange with a hint of Grapefruit — it grabs attention without being pushy. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   For a 2008 release, Givenchy Play Eau de Toilette deserves more attention than it gets. The very first sniff is crisp Bitter Orange with Grapefruit peeking through, very much my kind of start. The heart is the best part for me: Coffee and Pepper feel carefully balanced. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
