   I picked up Insense (1993) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The base rests on Fir — warm, grounded and easy to live with. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lily-of-the-Valley with Magnolia, which is where the fragrance really shines. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   A friend passed me a decant of Insense (1993) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Fir and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Right away I get mostly Aldehydes alongside Black Currant, fresh and very easy to wear. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   For a 1993 release, Insense deserves more attention than it gets. The opening is built around Aldehydes and Black Currant — bright and immediately recognizable. As it settles, Fir come through and give it real depth. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

The very first sniff is crisp Aldehydes with Black Currant peeking through, very much my kind of start. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

Give it a little time and Lily-of-the-Valley with Magnolia comes forward — smooth and well done. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lily-of-the-Valley with Magnolia, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Lily-of-the-Valley and Magnolia feel carefully balanced. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
