I picked up Vanderbilt (1982) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Carnation and Tuberose feel carefully balanced. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

My first Gloria Vanderbilt experience was this one, Vanderbilt (1982). The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The heart is the best part for me: Carnation and Tuberose feel carefully balanced. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

A couple of wears in, Vanderbilt has really grown on me. The very first sniff is crisp Aldehydes with Orange Blossom peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It performs better in warmer weather β€” in the heat it opens up nicely. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

A decant of Vanderbilt sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Aldehydes with Orange Blossom peeking through, very much my kind of start. Right away I get mostly Aldehydes alongside Orange Blossom, fresh and very easy to wear. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

I keep reaching for Vanderbilt more than I expected to. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Carnation with Tuberose, which is where the fragrance really shines. Give it a little time and Carnation with Tuberose comes forward β€” smooth and well done. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

My first Gloria Vanderbilt experience was this one, Vanderbilt (1982). The base rests on Vanilla and Sandalwood β€” warm, grounded and easy to live with. The opening is built around Aldehydes and Orange Blossom β€” bright and immediately recognizable. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

Everyone keeps talking about Vanderbilt, so I finally gave it a proper test. The base rests on Vanilla and Sandalwood β€” warm, grounded and easy to live with. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

I have owned Vanderbilt for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Give it a little time and Carnation with Tuberose comes forward β€” smooth and well done. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I would happily buy a full bottle.

For a 1982 release, Vanderbilt deserves more attention than it gets. The opening is built around Aldehydes and Orange Blossom β€” bright and immediately recognizable. As it settles, Vanilla and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

Gloria Vanderbilt knows how to compose, and Vanderbilt (1982) is proof. Right away I get mostly Aldehydes alongside Orange Blossom, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

I’ve been wearing Vanderbilt on and off for a few weeks now (1982). The very first sniff is crisp Aldehydes with Orange Blossom peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Aldehydes with a hint of Orange Blossom β€” it grabs attention without being pushy. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
