   Goutal knows how to compose, and La Violette (2001) is proof. Give it a little time and Violet with Violet Leaf comes forward — smooth and well done. The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Violet Leaf feel carefully balanced. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   My first Goutal experience was this one, La Violette (2001). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Violet Leaf, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Violet Leaf feel carefully balanced. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

Give it a little time and Violet with Violet Leaf comes forward — smooth and well done. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Violet Leaf, which is where the fragrance really shines. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.
