   I’ve been wearing Duchessa on and off for a few weeks now (2020). The very first sniff is crisp Black cherry with Saffron peeking through, very much my kind of start. Right away I get mostly Black cherry alongside Saffron, fresh and very easy to wear. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   My first Gritti experience was this one, Duchessa (2020). The very first sniff is crisp Black cherry with Saffron peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown leans on Sweet Almond plus Iris and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   A decant of Duchessa sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. That first spray gives a lovely Black cherry/Saffron impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Black cherry alongside Saffron, fresh and very easy to wear. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   I keep reaching for Duchessa more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Chocolate and Cloves feel carefully balanced. The first minutes are all about Black cherry with a hint of Saffron — it grabs attention without being pushy. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I picked up Duchessa (2020) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The first minutes are all about Black cherry with a hint of Saffron — it grabs attention without being pushy. The opening is built around Black cherry and Saffron — bright and immediately recognizable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

As it settles, Sweet Almond and Iris come through and give it real depth. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A couple of wears in, Duchessa has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Chocolate with Cloves, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Sweet Almond and Iris — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. The composition is well made but not for me.
