   My first Guerlain experience was this one, Apres l’Ondee (1906). The very first sniff is crisp Anise with Cassia peeking through, very much my kind of start. The base rests on Iris and Heliotrope — warm, grounded and easy to live with. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   A decant of Apres l’Ondee sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The opening is built around Anise and Cassia — bright and immediately recognizable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Orris Root, which is where the fragrance really shines. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I keep reaching for Apres l’Ondee more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Anise with Cassia peeking through, very much my kind of start. The opening is built around Anise and Cassia — bright and immediately recognizable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I have owned Apres l’Ondee for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. That first spray gives a lovely Anise/Cassia impression that dries down smoothly. The first minutes are all about Anise with a hint of Cassia — it grabs attention without being pushy. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   Guerlain knows how to compose, and Apres l’Ondee (1906) is proof. The first minutes are all about Anise with a hint of Cassia — it grabs attention without being pushy. Right away I get mostly Anise alongside Cassia, fresh and very easy to wear. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Orris Root feel carefully balanced. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
