   Guerlain knows how to compose, and Eau de (1974) is proof. The opening is built around Lemon and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. The first minutes are all about Lemon with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A couple of wears in, Eau de has really grown on me. The base rests on Oakmoss and Neroli — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The opening is built around Lemon and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I picked up Eau de (1974) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Bergamot and Mint feel carefully balanced. The first minutes are all about Lemon with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   I have owned Eau de for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The heart is the best part for me: Bergamot and Mint feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Lemon and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.
