   I’ve been wearing Insolence Eau de Parfum on and off for a few weeks now (2008). The drydown leans on Tonka Bean plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Red Berries — bright and immediately recognizable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A friend passed me a decant of Insolence Eau de Parfum (2008) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The very first sniff is crisp Red Berries, very much my kind of start. The base rests on Tonka Bean and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   Guerlain knows how to compose, and Insolence Eau de Parfum (2008) is proof. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Iris, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Tonka Bean and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.
