   Everyone keeps talking about Iris Torréfié, so I finally gave it a proper test. As it settles, Leather and Tea come through and give it real depth. The very first sniff is crisp Coffee with Cardamom peeking through, very much my kind of start. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I have owned Iris Torréfié for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Right away I get mostly Coffee alongside Cardamom, fresh and very easy to wear. Give it a little time and Iris with Ambrette (Musk Mallow) comes forward — smooth and well done. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   A friend passed me a decant of Iris Torréfié (2020) and I wasn’t prepared for it. As it settles, Leather and Tea come through and give it real depth. The first minutes are all about Coffee with a hint of Cardamom — it grabs attention without being pushy. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   Guerlain knows how to compose, and Iris Torréfié (2020) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Coffee/Cardamom impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown leans on Leather plus Tea and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I have owned Iris Torréfié for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The first minutes are all about Coffee with a hint of Cardamom — it grabs attention without being pushy. The heart is the best part for me: Iris and Ambrette (Musk Mallow) feel carefully balanced. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Iris with Ambrette (Musk Mallow), which is where the fragrance really shines. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

The opening is built around Coffee and Cardamom — bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

The very first sniff is crisp Coffee with Cardamom peeking through, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
