   Guerlain knows how to compose, and Shalimar Parfum Initial (2011) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot/Orange impression that dries down smoothly. The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   Picked up a sample of Shalimar Parfum Initial after reading the community buzz (2011). As it settles, Vanille and Caramel come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Iris with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I would happily buy a full bottle.

Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

The opening is built around Bergamot and Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. The composition is well made but not for me.

It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.
