   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Halston Classic. The first minutes are all about Green Leaves with a hint of Mint — it grabs attention without being pushy. Give it a little time and Marigold with Carnation comes forward — smooth and well done. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A decant of Halston Classic sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Marigold with Carnation, which is where the fragrance really shines. The very first sniff is crisp Green Leaves with Mint peeking through, very much my kind of start. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   I have owned Halston Classic for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Give it a little time and Marigold with Carnation comes forward — smooth and well done. The heart is the best part for me: Marigold and Carnation feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   A couple of wears in, Halston Classic has really grown on me. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The heart is the best part for me: Marigold and Carnation feel carefully balanced. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   I’ve been wearing Halston Classic on and off for a few weeks now (1975). The base rests on Oakmoss and Vetiver — warm, grounded and easy to live with. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Marigold with Carnation, which is where the fragrance really shines. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

The very first sniff is crisp Green Leaves with Mint peeking through, very much my kind of start. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
