   I keep reaching for Halston Z14 more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Cypress with Lemon peeking through, very much my kind of start. The heart is the best part for me: Cinnamon and Vetiver feel carefully balanced. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A decant of Halston Z14 sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Leather and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Cypress and Lemon — bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Halston Z14. Right away I get mostly Cypress alongside Lemon, fresh and very easy to wear. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cinnamon with Vetiver, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.
