   I’ve been wearing Bel Ami on and off for a few weeks now (1986). The base rests on Leather and Oakmoss — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Leather and Oakmoss come through and give it real depth. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   For a 1986 release, Bel Ami deserves more attention than it gets. The base rests on Leather and Oakmoss — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Leather and Oakmoss come through and give it real depth. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   I keep reaching for Bel Ami more than I expected to. Right away I get mostly Sage alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. The first minutes are all about Sage with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   For a 1986 release, Bel Ami deserves more attention than it gets. That first spray gives a lovely Sage/Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. The heart is the best part for me: Carnation and Patchouli feel carefully balanced. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

    Hermès knows how to compose, and Bel Ami (1986) is proof. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Carnation with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. The opening is built around Sage and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I wanted to like it more than I did.
