   Hermès knows how to compose, and Equipage (1970) is proof. The base rests on Oakmoss and Vetiver — warm, grounded and easy to live with. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Carnation with Pine Tree Needles, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A couple of wears in, Equipage has really grown on me. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. That first spray gives a lovely Clary Sage/Brazilian Rosewood impression that dries down smoothly. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   I picked up Equipage (1970) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Right away I get mostly Clary Sage alongside Brazilian Rosewood, fresh and very easy to wear. The very first sniff is crisp Clary Sage with Brazilian Rosewood peeking through, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

The opening is built around Clary Sage and Brazilian Rosewood — bright and immediately recognizable. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I have owned Equipage for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The first minutes are all about Clary Sage with a hint of Brazilian Rosewood — it grabs attention without being pushy. As it settles, Oakmoss and Vetiver come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. The composition is well made but not for me.

   My first Hermès experience was this one, Equipage (1970). Give it a little time and Carnation with Pine Tree Needles comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Carnation with Pine Tree Needles, which is where the fragrance really shines. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

    I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Equipage. That first spray gives a lovely Clary Sage/Brazilian Rosewood impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Clary Sage alongside Brazilian Rosewood, fresh and very easy to wear. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.
