   A friend passed me a decant of Terre d’Hermès (2006) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The first minutes are all about Orange with a hint of Grapefruit — it grabs attention without being pushy. Right away I get mostly Orange alongside Grapefruit, fresh and very easy to wear. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   I have owned Terre d’Hermès for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Pepper with Pelargonium, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown leans on Vetiver plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I would happily buy a full bottle.

Give it a little time and Pepper with Pelargonium comes forward — smooth and well done. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
