   A couple of wears in, Silences has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Hyacinth with Lily-of-the-Valley, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Oakmoss and Vetiver — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I’ve been wearing Silences on and off for a few weeks now (1978). The opening is built around Galbanum and Green Notes — bright and immediately recognizable. The first minutes are all about Galbanum with a hint of Green Notes — it grabs attention without being pushy. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I have owned Silences for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The heart is the best part for me: Hyacinth and Lily-of-the-Valley feel carefully balanced. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

Right away I get mostly Galbanum alongside Green Notes, fresh and very easy to wear. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   Jacomo knows how to compose, and Silences (1978) is proof. The base rests on Oakmoss and Vetiver — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Oakmoss and Vetiver come through and give it real depth. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
