I keep reaching for Ultra Male more than I expected to. The opening is built around Pear and Lavender β€” bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Pear/Lavender impression that dries down smoothly. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Ultra Male. That first spray gives a lovely Pear/Lavender impression that dries down smoothly. The first minutes are all about Pear with a hint of Lavender β€” it grabs attention without being pushy. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

I picked up Ultra Male (2015) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cinnamon with Clary Sage, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Pear/Lavender impression that dries down smoothly. Two sprays are enough β€” it carries well without shouting. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Ultra Male. That first spray gives a lovely Pear/Lavender impression that dries down smoothly. The heart is the best part for me: Cinnamon and Clary Sage feel carefully balanced. Two sprays are enough β€” it carries well without shouting. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

For a 2015 release, Ultra Male deserves more attention than it gets. Right away I get mostly Pear alongside Lavender, fresh and very easy to wear. The very first sniff is crisp Pear with Lavender peeking through, very much my kind of start. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

A decant of Ultra Male sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. That first spray gives a lovely Pear/Lavender impression that dries down smoothly. The heart is the best part for me: Cinnamon and Clary Sage feel carefully balanced. It performs better in warmer weather β€” in the heat it opens up nicely. I would happily buy a full bottle.

A couple of wears in, Ultra Male has really grown on me. The first minutes are all about Pear with a hint of Lavender β€” it grabs attention without being pushy. The base rests on Black Vanilla Husk and Amber β€” warm, grounded and easy to live with. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

Jean Paul Gaultier knows how to compose, and Ultra Male (2015) is proof. The drydown leans on Black Vanilla Husk plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Give it a little time and Cinnamon with Clary Sage comes forward β€” smooth and well done. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
